Philadelphia is full of great neighborhoods, but there’s something special about Manayunk. The cozy homes sit on rolling hills along the winding river. It’s a refreshing break from the hustle and bustle of Center City. Lark is a Manayunk wedding venue that offers all-in-one conveniences for people looking to celebrate their love in a quieter corner of Philadelphia. Tori and Alex’s Lark wedding incorporated the inviting atmosphere and beautiful views that make Manayunk so charming.
Lark is a Manayunk wedding venue that gives you the best of the neighborhood while also having moments of modern European design. A tufted yellow couch and Mid-century Modern chairs gather in inviting vignettes in the lounge where a botanical mural adds to the rich layers of color. The dark walls make the launch and bar feel spacious. Alex and Tori’s wedding clothes really popped in contrast as well.
Lark’s bar is equally beautiful with giant chandeliers that illuminate the bar top. In the daytime, tall windows light the rooms for an airy, relaxed feeling. The lighting fixtures and dark accent colors make the Manayunk wedding venue feel intimate in the evenings. It really is ideal for small weddings in that sense.
In addition to well-decorated interiors, Lark has a rooftop with a stunning view of the pale blue Pencoyd Bridge spanning the Schuylkill River.. You could easily hold a small ceremony outdoors if you preferred (and the weather allowed). The glass sides of the rooftop give it a sense of being wide open beside the treetops.
One of the highlights of a Lark wedding is the food. The chef, Nicholas Elmi, actually one Top Chef and was a finalist for the James Beard Award. Needless to say, the food is delicious. It includes seafood, handmade pasta, and seasonal vegetables. Their signature cocktails are fun too. Tori and Alex’s wedding featured a bright pink cocktail that matched their floral arrangements.
Unlike many Manayunk wedding venues, Lark actually is attached to a hotel. A Residence Inn by Marriott offers rooms and suites for your guests. It’s also convenient if you’re looking to get ready close to your venue. You also can’t beat having access to a parking lot for you and your guests.
Alex and Tori were the first people to get married at this Manayunk wedding venue. Lark couldn’t have asked for a better wedding to start with. Their modern aesthetic worked really well with Lark’s decor. In fact, they didn’t do much decorating beyond their colorful florals and chuppah. The simple approach worked well in this venue.
Originally, Tori and Alex planned for a rooftop wedding ceremony with the river behind them. The heat forced them to rethink their plans. Luckily, it was easy to make the switch to an indoor ceremony. Having a versatile venue is so important. Their chuppah and vibrant flowers looked like they were always meant to be in front of the tall windows and French blue walls.
As a Manayunk wedding venue, Lark has great portrait locations all around it. The Pencoyd Bridge provides a footpath over the river. It’s such a treat to be able to take pictures without worrying about cars whizzing by. We could soak up the calm river and trees lining the banks. It was so meaningful for Alex and Tori to have that time to step away from everything and enjoy each other’s presence on their wedding day. The subtle blue and industrial structure of the bridge complimented the cool grays and whites and elegant lines of their wedding clothes too.
Alex and Tori’s Lark wedding reception was intimate, relaxed, and fun. After thoughtful speeches, they were able to spend time with all of their guests and enjoy all the spaces that made the venue so lovely. I was able to photograph so many candid interactions that show what lively and loving relationships they have with their friends and family. I especially love all the sweet interactions between Tori and her wedding party. They were such an affectionate bunch that it made it easier for me to capture those interactions that filled the day with warmth.
