There is a big piece of me that loves the spontaneity and creativity found in the unexpected. I think that’s why elopements are turning out to be an all-time favorite of mine!
Some people will mistake a micro wedding for an elopement. But a true elopement requires a sudden idea, a last minute scramble, and a few surprises along the way. That was certainly the case for Nina and Cam.
This beautiful couple had planned a destination wedding in Greece, only to have those plans dashed by COVID. They were resigned to a postponed wedding, until they made the spur of the moment decision to elope.
They decided to tie the knot at Peace Valley Nature Center, a charming nature preserve Nina used to visit as a kid. They wrote some vows and had a little ceremony, just the two of them (and me…your trusted Philadelphia elopement photographer).
Despite the informality, the private ceremony was chock full of emotion. At one point the couple even said they were shocked that they were crying, especially in front of a photographer they just met! But really, I think the emotional element makes all the sense in the world. When you strip away all of the obligation, stress, and money that often accompanies weddings nowadays, you are left with the true purpose of the day: celebrating your bond with this person.
If you and your partner woke up this morning and felt spontaneous…give me a call. I’m always down for a last minute booking!
