Incorporating Mindfulness into your Wedding

Your wedding day flies by. 

It doesn’t matter if you’ve been planning it for years, or it was a spur of the moment event. The day will come and it’ll be a whirlwind of emotions, flower bouquets and Jordan Almonds. 

Then before you know it you are back at home, soaking your sore feet and watching Friends reruns with your new spouse and thinking, “What the hell just happened?”

My biggest piece of advice for wedding clients? Plan out quiet moments in your day when you and your person can pause, take a deep breath, and really soak it all in. 

This was one of the reasons that I really loved Su and Carmine’s wedding day. After the first look, the happy couple spent almost two hours going to places in the trendy neighborhood of Dumbo, Brooklyn, that were important to them. Besides getting some stunning portraits of both the bride and the groom, these two really got to connect with each other before the madness began. Considering that Su and Carmine met for the first time at a meditation retreat, it made sense that they’d incorporate a touch of mindfulness into their day. 

Life has been a whirlwind for me lately. Traveling between Philly and NYC for photography gigs is a dream come true, but sometimes I need a reminder to pause, breathe, and really soak this all in. I feel so lucky that I was able to turn my hobby, my passion, my side gig into my full-time job and business. I’m not normally one for New Years resolutions, but maybe I’ll try to incorporate a little more mindfulness into the madness in 2020.
