Travel is a funny thing. Places that may seem everyday to you can become exciting and sentimental for someone else when they travel to your town. This is one of the reasons I love working with folks that are just passing through the Philly area. I get to see my own city through fresh eyes and realize just how truly stunning, quirky, and charming Philadelphia is.
Kaitlin and Sam are two such travelers, hailing from the great state of Minnesota. But this wasn’t their first time in Philly. Last time they were here, they got engaged! So when it came time to take engagement photos, it only made sense to go back to where Sam popped the big question.
During this Philly engagement session, we walked around Old City and used the city’s classic architecture as our backdrop. Even though Kaitlin and Sam look warm and snuggly in these photos, don’t let them fool you – it was bitter cold that day! That was why we switched it up a bit and escaped into the warm haven of a coffee shop.
We hear about destination weddings all of the time, but these are usually out of the average couple’s price range, not to mention a headache to plan. But why don’t we hear more about destination engagement photography? I love the idea of couples trekking to a place that is special to them and having photos to show off at the wedding. Whether it is across town or across the country, consider finding a location that has sentimental value for the two of you to make your engagement photos even more special.
