Sarah & Steve’s Beer Garden Wedding

When two beer connoisseurs love each other very much…they throw a beer garden themed wedding. 

I’m not just talking craft beer at cocktail hour. As professionals in the alcoholic drink industry, Sarah and Steve captured the casual, outdoor feel of a trendy beer garden, and even had a beer uniting ceremony at the altar (move out of the way, unity candles). 

The wedding took place at MAAS Building, originally the Charles Maas Brewery when it was opened in Philadelphia in 1859. No longer a brewery, this reclaimed and industrial space houses resident artists’ work, a recording studio, as well as indoor and outdoor spaces for events. MAAS also partners with Philly DIY to offer bartending, signage, and flowers for your event. 

I photographed two weddings at MAAS in 2019 and I have 2 more booked for 2020. This place is literally the bomb because it isn’t just a run-of-the-mill wedding factory. There is so much ability to transform the space to your personal taste without feeling the least bit “cookie cutter.” For Sarah and Steve, this meant a vintage modern look with thrift store candelabras, handmade planters on every table (courtesy of the father-of-the-bride), and dried flower bouquets. 

A highlight for me of Sarah and Steve’s wedding was that they opted to take group photos at the rehearsal dinner. This meant more time hanging out with friends and family at the reception, drinking some top notch beverages and playing table games.
