Perfectly Candid “Engagement” Session

I love a good ol’ nontraditional photoshoot. 

Believe it or not, Nhi and John have actually been married for a few years(they definitely haven’t lost that new love glow), and they are going to have another wedding with Nhi’s family overseas in the near future. This couple really wanted some nice wedding-ish/engagement sort-of/couples photoshoot, and you know I’m always down for sessions that don’t fit the mold! 

We met at FDR Park in South Philly, not too far from their home, and got some really sweet shots by the water with the autumn leaves in the background. The two confided in me that they were nervous going into the session, thinking it would be hard to model for the camera. But it only took a few minutes for Nhi and John to settle in — they were naturals! 

I would like to think that it is just my winning personality that puts people at ease, but I really think there is something about being in a familiar location that helps my clients relax and be themselves. I am always down to give suggestions of spots for a session, but I love it when couples ask me to meet them in places that are special to them. Whether it be your neighborhood, favorite bar, or living room, nothing will put you more at ease than being in a place that is important to you.
