What to expect in a lifestyle photo session

What are some of the first thoughts that come to your mind when you hear the word photoshoot? Is it a line of overdressed middle schoolers waiting in the school gym for their turn to use the community comb, sit up stiff, and pray that your eyes stay open the whole time? Or maybe you think of a stark white room, techno music blasting, fans blowing everywhere, and a British man yelling, “yes, darling” at every move you make. I can tell you with full confidence that a photo session with me is nothing like either of these things, although I will yell, “yes, darling” at you in a British accent if you want me to.  

For Families

We are going to play! I love playing games with families to elicit some genuine laughter and smiles. Fake smiles from kids are the worst — funny, but the worst. Family sessions are all about connection for me. Getting to capture the way your tribe all connects and communicates with one another is so beautiful. I just want you to be yourselves. So you can tell stories, sing songs, or play in your favorite park as long as you are all connected.

For Couples

I want you to tell me all about your story. Your friends might be tired of hearing it, but I’m not! We will walk around a bit, maybe go to your favorite bar, go to your favorite spot in the city, or even spend a cozy night in. I’m a professional third wheel, so there is no need to feel weird showing a little PDA, I’m used to it. Hopefully by the end of our time together the two of you will feel more connected as a couple. My goal is to leave with two new friends, so get ready for that because I am coming over for dinner next week!  

For Individuals

Individual portraits are all about collaboration, something I love to do! Your needs for a professional headshot can be so different, and I want to make sure that you are getting exactly what you need. We will talk a lot about outfit choices, location, and lighting, all depending on what you need. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, everyone needs at least one professional, recently updated photo of themselves. So let’s make sure we make the perfect one!

For Weddings

I have been told by past clients that I am the perfect mix of calm and commanding. I know when to control a group of rowdy groomsmen and when to let a moment simmer. I want to disappear into the background, but I’ll also do whatever it takes to get the shot. We will get all the shots you wanted and the ones you didn’t know you needed, but most importantly you will get to participate in your wedding. I’ll work with you to make sure that the photo portion of the day is as quick and painless as possible because I want to see you on that dance floor!

One element that is in all of my photoshoots is fun! So I hope to have some fun with you real soon.
